Pat sent this in: "This week EWTN is running a series on the Shroud of Turin on the series "Women of Grace." Today's program reviewed the history of the Shroud and how it got to Turin in 1578.
Some of the circumstantial evidence for its antiquity includes the fact that when the Shroud (which had been hidden for several hundred years) was re-discovered around 500 AD, art and mosaic images of Jesus dramatically changed from a youthful unbearded "Roman" face to the man with a beard that we universally now see.
The remaining 4 programs will be broadcast this week at 11:00 am and re-aired at 11:30 pm. The most up-to-date scientific information and theories will be explored."

I am not too sure about the "shroud"
So which is it, Fr. V? "Everything is going to be OK" or "not...everything is going to be OK"?
Frankly, I get tired of hearing "everything is going to be OK," when in reality many, many things don't turn out OK, at least by a conventional understanding of the expression. People don't recover from illnesses. Teenagers commit suicide or die in car wrecks. Some people never find a good job again. Some children never come back to the faith. Etc., etc., etc., ......
We need to need a new definition of "OK" for the first quote to be true. We need an explanation of why it is OK for things not to be OK if Fr. Groeschel's quote to be true.
That video regarding elections is moving for sure, and visually striking...the sad reality is though that yes we Catholics need to vote for these key issues - but who is there to vote for that really personifies those values? Certainly not obama - but romney is at his core and past pro-choice, has used that stance to gain power thus showing his true grit, he has not said he would bring down the healthcare reform, rather he says he would replace it when in reality compared to the law of our land the government has no right to create such laws. Furthermore he is another war hawk in the lines of george w and obama. Talk about a culture of death - our wars kill millions of innocents. Where is the candidate that a fully awake and aware Catholic can vote for? He certainly isn’t on the ballot - he could have been, but he was cheated out of a chance to even speak at the convention. In my humble opinion the course for this country is set because of the conspiring and collusion of wicked men in power - our greatest weapon is not the federal ballot box - it is the state and local ballot and it is educating yourself and your friends about the reality of our world and most importantly it is prayer and calling down the protection and guidance of Our Lady of the Americas and begging Christ for forgiveness and guidance.

Both statements are true. Just because I trust God does not mean that I won't be fed to the lions. But even if I am fed to the lions, I will still be in heaven. So things may not go the way that I want them - but ultimately they will . . .
