QUOTE TUESDAY - XVI

FINDING TRUTH WHEREVER IT MAY BE FOUND: “Who dares nothing need hope for nothing.” Don Carlos

QUOTE TWO – “The Gentleman is solid mahogany. The fashionable man is only veneer.” G. J. Holland

IN OTHER NEWS:

Look here to read Pope Benedict's new encyclical Spe salvi (30 November 2007).

With great joy I announce to you another person from this parish is looking into the religious life! You know her by her confirmation name(s) as she signs her posts Lillian Marie. She is serious enough about it to let it be common knowledge. If you would like to see two places that she is discerning you can look here and here. Please keep her and all looking into religious vocations in your prayers! Blessings to you Lillian Marie!

This is just a cool site: Juke box plays the hits from the 50's through the 80's in the background while you work. As if you didn't need yet another distraction. Thanks Faba.

The Diocese of Cleveland E-Newsletter has a link to the rest of this article from the Catholic News Service, "WASHINGTON (CNS) -- To answer the question that is increasingly being asked of officials with the archdioceses of Washington and New York -- and pretty much anyone else who works for the Catholic Church in the region -- you can't yet get tickets to any events during Pope Benedict XVI's visit to those cities in April."

The DOCEN also have a link to the Catholic Internet Broadcasting TV. Check it out.

Lots of goodies from the DOCEN this week. Here is a story about the formation of a new parish in the diocese from what was once three.

I read the new encyclical yesterday at work (we're having a dept. "retreat" on Thurs and using this encyc.), and wow, it has many gems in it!

Here's a few:

When we pray properly we undergo a process of inner purification which opens us up to God and thus to our fellow human beings as well. In prayer we must learn what we can truly ask of God—what is worthy of God (33)

Christ died for all. To live for him means allowing oneself to be drawn into his being for others. (28)

I am SO quoting this encyc for my paper (brownie points!). Now...if I could just get beyond the first paragraph...

Lillian...may God guide you on your journey. This is a most exciting and sometimes confusing time to discern religious life (I've gone through it for a while know the series of feelings that can occur). But I am most excited for you and know that you will find peace in your decision. GOD BLESS!

Thank you all for your prayers - they are very much appreciated! HP - You're absolutely right! I keep going from being excited to apprehensive. (I think I'm driving Fr. V. crazy!)

BTW, Fr. V. - went to the Adoration & Benediction at the Cathedral tonight - it was kind of unnerving when I was 10 rows from the front & all of the priests sat behind me. I stood out like a sore thumb! *grin*

If is possible add the CresceNet(www.provedorcrescenet.com) in your blogroll, I thank. Good bye friend.

What an incredible gift, to give oneself to God entirely. Not in any vocation is that ever entirely easy, but it is truly to embrace a poverty like His. The Bride must resembler her Bridegroom. Prayers for Ms. Lillian Marie and all others who are discerning all calls. (Gosh, I'll be busy today, won't I? YAY!! Good! Go for it!!)
