MONDAY DIARY: ALMOST EXCRUCIATINGLY TRUE STORIES: KNOCK IT OFF

Every year: All Hallow’s Eve
I buy my favorite treats
for on this night I still believe
that one day someone will come knocking at my door.
Gazing out upon the night
from my window high
wondering - wondering if I might
spy someone knocking on my door.

With locked doors and darkened lights
I do my best to add
to the spookiness and the frights
of someone wanting to knock on my door.
For five years and then five more
I wait for “Trick or Treat!”
But what am I doing this for?
for no one comes to knock on my door.

Then late at night: our beggars dodged
we come to life and merry
eat our way through our bags of stodge
for we have avoided someone knocking on the door!

Ha ha! I bet you will have a few this year!

Although, I hate to do a "kids these days" rant but........Kids these days seem to be much more strategic with their "tricks or treats." I have seen several stand at the end of our drive (which is long, but not _that_ long) and weigh the reward of candy vs. the extra steps. I blame the merchant trick or treating trend, we have flooded the market with easy candy. Ha!

Funny, I was at your house cooking dinner on Saturday and you never offered me a Kit Kat. Just Sayin'

Never offered me one too, just sain'.
I was supposed to help some friends hand out candy for Trick-or-Treat, and they have a very long driveway. When I found out that they sit at the end of the driveway so the kids don't have to walk, I just stayed in their living room to watch the Penn State-OSU game.

Hmmmm, is Father being sneaky? He said something about darken lights......is the porch light on to let the children know candy is for taking?

Ha ha!

Me thinks Father likes his kit kats.

Can we all be thankful that Halloween doesn't happen in Lent?
