MONDAY DIARY OF SORTS

Greetings,

There is a Monday Diary ready to come out, but when I try to upload my pictures I get this notice:

"Whoops! You're out of space. You are currently using 100% of your 1 GB quota for photos"

The problem is: I don't even know what this means!  Is there no more space on my computer?  On my blog site?  Can I erase pictures on my computer or on the blog?????  Does this mean that I have to pay $$$ for more space wherever that is . . .

I tried to go to the "helpful" site but of course it was anything but.  You have to know what a computer is before you can understand what it is they are trying to tell you.

Can anyone out there in blog land enlighten me?

Thanks,

Fr. V

It think this must be an epidemic across blogger. I had this happen on Thanksgiving and know it happened to a few other fellow bloggers. The answer is Photobucket. I blogged about it a few days ago: http://kareninmommyland.blogspot.com/2012/11/because-im-not-only-one.html

If you do a Google search for "Whoops! You're out of space" you'll find that lots of bloggers have run into the same problem. They, too, have asked for help and you can find lots of suggestions in the comments they have gotten.

It's not a question of storage on you computer, but rather of the storage space allotted to you in Picasa (where you blog photos are automatically stored.)

This is one example of a helpful discussion of the topic. You could even continue the discussion there with our own questions. http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/blogger/s-gAztg011Q

Looks like you have three options
1) resizing (shrinking) the images you currently have stored in Picasa
2)storing your images somewhere else like Photobucket or Flickr, etc. and just linking to them.
3) paying for more storage space

Hello Father,

As mentioned before you have hit the ceiling for free pictures in Picasa, which stores your Blogger images:

But you can get free storage by keeping you images under certain resolutions:

I think you might have to upload your images first so the autoresized free version gets created, then use that in your article.

Looking forward to your post!

This doesn't make sense given that at first glance, all of your blog images appear to be below the 800 pixel limit per photo, which is supposed to be free and not count toward reaching your 1G limit. (Maybe you have some huge images somewhere in your blog that I didn't see with a quick perusal?)

I wonder if you are storing some additional non-blog photos on Picasa Web in other albums. If so, perhaps you could delete or resize some of those.

You can start getting an understanding of where all your photos are by going to https://picasaweb.google.com/. Your log-in info is the same that you would use for Blogger. All of your blog photos should be stored in an album that has the same name as your blog with that little orange blog icon next to it.

If you want, I can take a look at it when my daughter and I stop by tomorrow. I have a couple of ideas that might help, or at least I could show you a few things so you'd understand what that message meant.

Yeah, have a look in Picasa. I love your cartoons, but always wondered how come they were posted so large:

Also check some of your your photos:

I rarely host any of my pictures via Blogger/Picasa. I use Flickr and Photobucket!

I think I found a blog post that provides the instructions you need to deal with your photo-posting problem without you needing to pay a fee or use an outside photo host (like Flickr, etc.).

http://jansfunnyfarm.blogspot.com/2012/08/vibrating-dog-and-picasa.html

Essentially you need to:
1) Check your Picasa Web account to see if it really is full
2) Shrink some of your blog images (and/or delete images that are not being used on your blog)
3) Possibly resize (pre-shrink) other images before you attempt to upload them.

The instructions on this post pretty much jibe with everything I understand about Blogger and Picasa. I'd be happy to help you walk through the process or even do it some of it for you. I simply can't resist getting to the bottom of computer/internet bugs like this.
