TUESDAY QUOTE OF THE WEEK - LXII

FINDING TRUTH WHEREVER IT MAY BE FOUND: "The tempter is not so crude as to suggest to us directly that we should worship the devil. He merely suggests that we opt for the reasonable decision, that we choose to give priority to a planned and thoroughly organized world, where God may have his place as a private concern but must not interfere in our essential purpose." from Pope Benedict XVI's "Jesus of Nazareth

QUOTE II - "Computers are useless. They can only give you answers." Pablo Picasso

IN OTHER NEWS:

Habemus Papem sends this link along with the note, "it is very cool."

The view from my window.

Yes, but YOU have a candle.

AND...because all you have to look at is a brick wall, you can find God through contemplation of what you KNOW He created. "Blessed are they who have not seen and yet have believed...."

:-)

I think maybe you got the better view.

I should do a pic comparison of the Archbishop's office vs. the Director of Vocation's office. Much the same as the comparo here.

LOL! Perhaps it would be better if you didn't - things can always get worse!

Don't worry Adoro, I still think you are insane like the rest of us. ;)

sattvicwarrior, really, I'm not sure what you are so upset about. PBXVI, or Joseph Ratzinger, is not a philosopher. He is a theologian, and in this particular book, he is, as he made very sure to tell us all, expressing his opinions and reflections. In no sense is this book intended to be a magisterial teaching, so I am confused that you see this writing as somehow he is telling what God thinks. He is only describing his own ideas about Jesus, not what any of us should think.

As to his ability to play Mozart, I suspect he would agree with you--he is well aware that he is not so "accomplished" a musician as some may imagine. He does not play it to impress anyone with his musical abilities, he plays it for pure joy. Woe be unto us all, if you must be a virtuoso before you can play the music you love.
