FINDING TRUTH WHEREVER IT MAY BE FOUND: "Actual happiness looks pretty squalid in comparison with the overcompensation for misery. And, of course, stability isn't nearly so spectacular as instability. And being content has none of the glamour of a good fight against misfortune, none of the picturesqueness of a struggle with temptation, or a fatal overthrow by passion or doubt." from Adlous Huxley's, "Brave New Word"

Adam sent this quote in: "Pope John Paul II, concerning the role of music in regard to worship, said "Today, as yesterday, musicians, composers, liturgical chapel cantors, church organists and instrumentalists must feel the necessity of serious and rigorous professional training. They should be especially conscious of the fact that each of their creations or interpretations cannot escape the requirement of being a work that is inspired, appropriate and attentive to aesthetic dignity, transformed into a prayer of worship when, in the course of the liturgy, it expresses the mystery of faith in sound." This is particularly cool as we are verging on opening our Academy of Culture and Arts. Read about that here.
From the Diocese of Cleveland Enewsletter: "Purported visions of Mary, if taken in the wrong spirit, can sow confusion and distance people from the Gospel," said Pope Francis on Thursday, November 14, 2013." Hmm...quoting Brave New World and the 50th anniversary of Huxley's passing is Friday. Is this mere coincidence?
Ha!
Actually it is. Picked it up at the bookstore as one of those "was 'spose to read this in high school and never did."
Hi Father!
Wish you would/could put a copy of the Bishop's decree on "Holy Love" in the bulletin. There are quite a number of people in the area that still go there - out of ignorance of the decree or out of disobedience, I don't know. Maybe a reminder would help and a brief explanation of why we should listen to the Bishop, Christ's shepherd for us on earth. (Lots of wolves out there) St. Hilary's should put it in their bulletin too!
Hey, those Knights of the Holy Eucharist are really inspiring! I checked out their website and was moved to want to imitate them. The long lost sense of honor and privilege that it is to serve under a Good King is something worth pondering as we come up to the Feast of Christ the King. As I read over their Code of Chivalry of these brothers, I was struck by how honorable and virtuous they strive to be. They set a beautiful standard for all of us in living in the service of the Christ the King, His Queen Mother, and His Bride, the Church. Gosh, if only I was single and a guy, that's the kind of order I'd like to join!
